What is Smog?
Smog is formed from two words; smoke and fog. Smog also contains chemicals or dust in in it. It is a yellowish or blackish fog formed mainly by a mixture of pollutants and chemicals in the atmosphere which involves fine particles. Smog occurs most of the time because of air pollution. It can also be created by a mixture of various gases with dust and water vapour. Smog can also be hazy and full of pollutants that makes breathing and seeing difficult.

How is Smog Formed?
Smog is formed when fuels burn. When the heat from the sun reacts with the gas particles it creates pollution, which is the number one reason why we have smog. The objects that deliver this gas are mostly planes, cars, and trucks, factories that use gas or coal, and other heating devices created by human activity.
What are the effects of Smog?
Smog is harmful to humans, animals, and plants. Many illnesses and even deaths are attributed to smog. If a city or town has heavy smog the effects are quick such as cancer (lung cancer), the inability to grow crops, damage to forests and animal life.
Below is a picture of what smog and other kinds of pollution can do to the average human.
Smog is a growing problem due to increased industrialization. The hazardous chemicals involved in smog formation are highly reactive and spread quickly in the atmosphere. Smoke and sulphur dioxide pollution levels in urban areas have decreased as a result of laws being passed to control emissions and to support cleaner emission technology.
